Description
Educating children is key to our work at Woodmeadow Trust and the Education Officer has full responsibility for the delivery of our education programme. This exciting role entails working with children and sometimes their families to develop and deliver inspiring educational activities that promote an understanding of ecology and biodiversity.

We are looking for an outgoing, enthusiastic educator with great communication skills, with at least one year’s experience of delivering environmental education activities with a good knowledge of ecology, UK wildlife, habitats and the national curriculum. Experience of working with children aged 11-18 as well as primary school age is desirable.

This position is offered as a part-time post for 16 hours a week during term time, with a six-month probation period. Education activities will mainly take place at Three Hagges Woodmeadow, Escrick, near York.  However, there will be opportunities to work within schools and at other venues across Yorkshire. Remaining work can be home-based or carried out in our Education and Volunteer Cabin at Three Hagges Woodmeadow. There may be opportunities for extra hours and flexible working.

To be successful in this role you will ideally have had a teaching or science background (preferably in a biological or ecological discipline) with a relevant degree or equivalent experience.  You will have experience of delivering outdoor education sessions and be familiar with the national curriculum.  As you will be working with children and schools, experience of managing risks, safeguarding and health and safety will be key to this role.

Woodmeadow Trust is committed to the promotion of equality and diversity in all aspects of its work.

Closing date is midnight Sunday 13 March 2022.
