Are you passionate about wildlife and conservation? We have excellent opportunities for Assistant Ecologists looking to strengthen their experience and kick start their career in our ManchesterLichfield and Wakefield offices.

If you are interested in making meaningful environmental and social difference, then Temple might just be the place for you. As a dynamic and growing business, we are looking for self-motivated and positive-minded Assistant Ecologists to join our friendly team. The successful applicants will, with the support of the wider team, be assisting our ecologists in carrying out a wide range field surveys.

Whether you already have consultancy experience or are looking to build such experience this position will provide you with an opportunity to grow and develop your survey skills, as well as gaining wider experience in work planning and delivery, desk study work, and reporting within a supportive environment.

With a focus on regional site work there will be a requirement for travel, occasional overnight stays and, possibly, longer periods of working away from home as part of these roles. Candidates will need to be willing to occasionally work during evenings and at weekends. Please note that expenses and subsistence are paid, and we monitor working away closely to ensure the wellbeing of our staff.

The successful candidates will have as essential criteria:

  • A full clean UK driving licence;
  • A degree or equivalent qualification (N/SVQ Level 5) qualification in Ecology or a related subject;

Preferably, the candidates will also have as desirable criteria:

  • Experience of ecological field survey work including reptile, great crested newt and bat surveys;
  • At least one year experience in ecological consultancy or equivalent sectors.
  • Be registered (or be working towards) one or more Natural England (or other equivalent) survey class licence;
  • Hold Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC);
  • Experience with other species groups;
  • Qualifying or Associate Membership of (or working towards such) the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or equivalent professional body with professional code of conduct;
  • A valid CSCS card;
  • Experience of ecological report writing.
