Description

Rework is looking for a passionate Reuse repairer of domestic appliances with the ability to adopt quality management and support of staff, trainees and volunteers.

Groundwork London is a community charity with a green heart that has been at the forefront of social and environmental regeneration in London for over 20 years. Each year we deliver hundreds of innovative environmental and social action projects across the capital. Our projects change places and lives for the better in some of London’s most deprived and disadvantaged neighbourhoods. This includes working with communities to make their neighbourhoods greener and more resilient to climate change, supporting long-term unemployed individuals to find work, helping young people get back into education and training and advising residents how to save money on their energy and water needs.

Rework reuse teamwork with local communities around London to turn thrown away home furniture and white goods into valuable items once again. From our reuse workshops, we collect, repair and sell, reasonably priced domestic appliances and other household goods. Through this project, we also provide valuable volunteering and training opportunities for local residents. We sell items at affordable prices, through our charity partner’s shops, supporting hardship funds and through Rework Referral Scheme making a huge difference to London’s residents who otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford essential items for their homes. We have many people’s thanks for supporting them by way of supplying domestic appliances and furniture that they otherwise wouldn’t receive.

Groundwork London’s Rework project provides refurbished domestic appliances and furniture to referred customers as well as to charity shops around the UK. Rework collects domestic appliances deemed as waste, taking them back to our workshops to repair, clean and complete all safety checks prior to distributing to our retail partners or referees under our Covid-19 referral scheme.

You will be an experienced and confident repairer of different domestic appliances with the ability to work on your own initiative and to targets. You will need excellent communication skills to train others and the ability to follow procedures including all additional Covid-19 health and safety procedures we have introduced.

You will be an excellent team player and leader with a willingness to work flexibly across a range of duties as we constantly adapt to the needs of our customers and clients. Experience of undertaking taking risk assessments and implementing changes to working practices would be an advantage.

The successful candidate may need to work flexibly including some evenings and weekends repairing, touching up cosmetics of items as well as undertaking delivery, repair and installation at customers’ homes. Full training for this will be provided.

Please contact us if you have:

  • Experience in the repair of domestic appliances
  • The ability to communicate to staff, trainees & volunteers
  • Experience in domestic appliance electrical safety
  • Knowledge of risk assessments and H&S procedures
  • Knowledge and experience of using databases for stock & audit trails
