Fauna Forever Tambopata (FFT) - Wildlife and Ecotourism Research in the Peruvian Amazon - We are currently looking for dedicated individuals to join a wildlife monitoring effort in the Tambopata region of Peru. Join an exclusive team of Peruvian and international scientists working at the forefront of Neotropical conservation in the only project of its kind in "The Biodiversity Capital of Peru". Running since 1997, Fauna Forever Tambopata has already completed two successful rounds of monitoring in the area, now starting its third. To date we have trained over 100 volunteer research assistants in a variety of monitoring techniques and their effective application in a tropical rainforest environment. Learn from the guidance and mentoring of our passionate team of experts in surveying birds, mammals and herpetofauna. This is an unparalleled opportunity for anyone seeking to obtain field experience for a possible future career in biology, conservation and international development. We aim to teach the theories and methodologies used to investigate wildlife populations and community structures; and the impacts caused by humans in a region that is one of the most rapidly developing in South America. Help us collect vital data that goes to protected area managers, non-governmental organisations, ecotourism lodges, and local people; giving recommendations on how best to preserve habitat in a region that is already threatened by the construction of The Interroceanica Highway, Hydroelectric Dam, as well as exploration by oil companies. Help us help Tambopata.
