Description  

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Environment Service for an Active Travel Team Leader, to complement the existing Active Travel team, working across projects to encourage sustainable and active travel across Norfolk. Overseeing programmes of work, the post will work with a variety of businesses, community groups and workplaces delivering initiatives to encourage and promote active or sustainable lifestyles.

Reporting to the Lead Projects Manager key responsibilities will include:

  • Support the Lead Projects Manager to develop a system approach to improving activity levels across Norfolk’s population through active travel initiatives, working in partnership with other key stakeholders
  • Oversee active travel projects of work, steering day-to-day project activities and resources
  • Enable and deliver the priority outcomes defined in Norfolk’s Active Travel strategy
  • Provide strategic oversight of Norfolk’s Active Travel programme and policy, influencing partnership initiatives and jointly managed projects
  • Integrate active travel initiatives across all local authority activities, services and policies
  • Present to appropriate boards and steering groups monitoring the delivery of these projects.

The role will build on the previous work on Active Travel delivered by the Council through DfT funding such as the Cycle City Ambition Grant (CCAG), Access Fund programme, Transforming Cities and the Active Travel Fund, alongside projects such as Greenways to Greenspaces and Mobi-Mix, to help manage the delivery of Norfolk’s Active Travel priorities detailed within the Environment Service Plan and Norfolk’s Active Travel Strategy.
