Description

Reaseheath College is a leading land based specialist college delivering Further and Higher Education, based in South Cheshire. Integral to the success of the organisation is the strength of its industry partnerships and employer engagement, delivering high quality skills, demonstration work and applied research projects across the breadth of land based industries.

Supporting the agricultural sector, Reaseheath College has a dedicated highly skilled team of technical specialists working within the Reaseheath Agricultural Development Academy (RADA). The RADA mission is to improve the profitability and resource use efficiency of farming and food production by delivering high quality knowledge transfer that is focused on the needs of farmers and growers. Our philosophy is to help the farming and food production community to put 'science into practice', using our facilities, training programmes and by acting as an information portal.

The RADA team work with a range of stakeholders delivering skills, applied research, demonstration trials and technical interventions supporting government priorities and policies and private sector strategic objectives.

In line with the need for 'sustainable intensification in food production' - producing more with less environmental impact - RADA has a dedicated Farm Environmental Services (FES) team. Our advisors have a sound understanding of local farm businesses and the pressures that farmers face today. Working with the Environment Agency, United Utilities and river catchment partnerships, the team work out in the field supporting farmers to achieve the balance between commercial farming and conservation as well as meeting the ever increasing demands of farming legislation.

In Cheshire, several surface and groundwater Safeguard Zones have been designated due to a rising trend of nitrate within public water supply boreholes. In the groundwater catchments several surface water bodies have been identified as failing due to diffuse pollution in agricultural and rural un-sewered areas.

Reaseheath are looking to extend the capacity of the FES team through the recruitment of two new posts with specific skills sets required to deliver our pipeline of projects.

These projects aim to reduce nitrates entering groundwater, at the same time as tackling rural diffuse pollution impacting on surface water quality, by targeting rural landowners with on-site pollution prevention advice and assistance with mitigations.

Experience of GIS mapping skills and statistical analysis are essential.

Please apply by emailing your CV with a covering letter to humanresources@reaseheath.ac.uk
Closing date: Wednesday 7th September
Assessment Centre: w/c 19th September

The range of projects being delivered by the team has created the opportunity for potential work experience, dissertation project work for graduates and post graduates in relevant disciplines.
