Description  

ZSL is seeking a Monitoring & Evaluation Coordinator that will support monitoring and evaluation (M&E) across the UKCCU/NICFI-funded Project and the implementation of ZSL’s monitoring and evaluation strategy within this project. This role will require the ability to take on specific monitoring and evaluation-related work—including process and tool development; data collection; analysis and reporting on key output; outcome and impact indicators against the Project logframe—as well as assist with logistics and project administration activities.

The successful candidate will coordinate with the ZSL Impact team, the Monitoring, Evaluation & Safeguard Manager in Indonesia and the UKCCU’s FLAG – Evaluation and Monitoring Unit to ensure that the UKCCU/NICFI Project has the appropriate monitoring and evaluation framework in place. The role holder also will assist the team in ensuring that the Project maintains its strategic vision and that all activities result in the achievement of its intended outputs in a cost-effective and timely manner.

Role Profile:

The UKCCU/NICFI Project works with the Government of South Sumatra, national and district level governments, communities and the private sector to facilitate and support the government, private sector and local communities in establishing and piloting the sustainable landscape management partnership approach in the Sembilang - Dangku landscape of South Sumatra. The proposed impact of this project is to achieve “Inclusive economic growth and community prosperity, biodiversity conservation, forest protection and restoration, and the ending of deforestation, peatland drainage and wildfires that reduces land-based GHG emissions”.

Person Specification:

  • The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate and preferably a Masters level degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Information Management or a related subject or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience with and/or studies in monitoring and evaluation and impact evaluation methodologies
  • Experience of providing support and guidance on monitoring and evaluation across development programmes/projects
  • Applied knowledge of project cycle management, including problem analysis, project design, financial planning and management, and monitoring and evaluation
  • Extensive knowledge of logical frameworks and participatory results based planning, monitoring and evaluation, and demonstrated ability to coach and train others in their use
  • Experience in conducting, overseeing and/or managing evaluations
  • Knowledge of different evaluation methodologies such as quasi/experimental, theory based, process tracing, network analysis, and case-based approaches
  • Strong communications skills--able to express complex information in a simple and succinct manner
  • Confident and flexible, able to work under pressure and often to tight deadlines, including an ability to prioritize tasks
  • Good working knowledge of Excel for administrative purposes and for the management and analysis of quantitative data (including creation of clear graphics and tables)
  • Excellent IT skills, in particular MS Office, databases and virtual meeting tools such as Skype and Gotomeeting.
  • Experience with data management and data analysis in SPSS or STATA highly desirable.

Please note: The position is a 1 year fixed-term contract with the view of it being extended a further 1 year dependant on project funding. The post-holder will report to the Head of Asia Programmes and the Project Director in Indonesia.
