Location:  The successful candidate will be working from the Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority offices in King's Lynn.

Period of Employment: Fixed Term Contract until 31 March 2018 (possibility of further extension subject to confirmation and budgetary constraints)

Salary: £23,708 (no relocation package).  A driving licence is required.

Background

The Wash and North Norfolk Coast European Marine Site (EMS) is one of the most important areas of the British and European North Sea Coasts.

The Wash and North Norfolk Coast EMS Management Scheme, launched by the partnership in 2002, helps relevant authorities meet their statutory obligations by working closely with local people to safeguard marine conservation interest features designated under the UK Habitats Regulations 1994 (and subsequent regulation0 whilst encouraging sustainble use.

The Scheme sets out the features for which the EMS is designated, including conseration objectives, management measures, an annual management plan and processes to assess and report on condition to UK governemtn and the European Commission http://wnncems.co.uk.

The EMS Management Project (established through a Memorandum of Agreement between funding partners) supports a Project Manager to progress implementation, review of the Scheme in a co-ordinated and accountable way.

Role

A key element of the Project Manager's role is to co-ordinate and drive the implementation of the EMS management schme through an effective and accountable process, maintaining and building upon the existing relationships between relevant authorities and the local community.

The Project Manager provides a secretariat and admin function for the partnership, ensuring that initiatives are complementary.  the undertake and publish annual reports and an annual management plan, take forward bespoke initiatives and co-ordinate the extensive stakeholder network, including three geographical Advisory Groups.

The Project Manager will encourage a consistent sustainable approach to the use of the site's environmental resources by engaging with the relevant authorities, as well as the projects three Advisory Groups made up of local stakeholders with a personal or professional interest in the site, specialist recreational groups, users and others.  They will raise awareness of the environmental importance and management needs of the site, and develop and maintain a suitable communicaton plan.

You should have an appropriate degree or equivalent, have relevant post qualification experience, be organised, self-motivated and a good communicator with excellent presentational and interpersonal skills.  If you are able to be diplomatic yet firm and can stimulate and build partnerships through negotiation and consensus, you could be the person for us.
