JNCC provides evidence and advice on UK wide and international nature conservation issues and comprises around 150 science and technical staff across a wide range of disciplines and a corporate services team.
It aims to make a bigger impact by using core work in new ways and developing new products and services for a wider customer base. This new post will help JNCC to develop the enterprising culture and business development skills needed to do this. As part of the Senior Management Team, it will develop business development strategies and capability for the organisation and lead engagement with staff and current and potential customers to increase the take-up of existing services, identify new business opportunities, innovate new market offerings and generate additional income. The requirements for the role are:
- experience of working in a similar role in science and/or technology sectors;
- commercially astute with the ability to identify and act on opportunities;
- experienced in building and communicating business cases for new business opportunities;
- proven ability to understand and simplify complex ideas;
- excellent communication skills; confident in engaging with, and selling ideas to, a wide range of stakeholders and senior decision makers
- able to coach and develop knowledge and skills in others
- experience of working in, or with, the public sector (desirable).
- experience in shaping corporate key messages and communications channels (desirable)
