We are currently recruiting for a Technical Director – Rivers and Coastal Engineering, to join our well-established and experienced Coastal, Water and Flood Risk team.

The role will ideally be based in our Leeds office, however Manchester and Chesterfield can also be considered with regular travel to the Leeds office.

As a Technical Director – Rivers & Coastal Engineering, your responsibilities will include – •Provide technical leadership for the project team to enable the successful delivery of major river engineering or water resources projects.
•Management of the engineering design team as required and review/approval of technical output.
•Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for the project team members and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design.
•Actively maintain and develop AECOM’s technical capability in this field and act as a Thought Leader through participation in our global Technical Practice Network and attendance at industry events and conferences.
•Provide senior technical advisory role to clients as required including presentation of complex issues, options reviews and trouble shooting.
•Provide technical input to tenders including preparation of technical responses, assistance with pricing and attendance at technical interviews and assessments.
•Undertaking team leadership responsibilities such as guidance and mentoring, and assisting with professional development and career progression.

Minimum Requirements •Significant civil/structural experience in all parts of the project cycle (feasibility, design, contract management, site supervision) for river engineering, flood protection, dams, reservoirs and pumping station schemes.
•Ability to take technical ownership of projects and work with minimum supervision using own initiative.
•Good organisational skills, diligent approach to problem solving.
•Strong time management skills.
•Ability to cascade knowledge to a wider team.
•Conversant with Microsoft applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
•Experience in flood modelling (1D-2D), GIS and mapping or drainage design.

Preferred Qualifications •Degree educated in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
•MSc level would be beneficial.
•Chartered Engineer with ICE, IStructE, CIWEM or equivalent.
