Description

Wildlife and Whale Watching Guide Job (would suit biology, ecology, conservation graduate)

Sealife Adventures are looking for friendly, enthusiastic guides for marine wildlife trips in the Firth of Lorne Special Area of Conservation (near Oban, Scotland). The area is exceptional for porpoise, minke whales, dolphins, basking sharks, otters and seals. Bird watching highlights include sea eagles, golden eagles, puffins and a variety of seabirds.

We run 3-5 hour family friendly wildlife boat trips and are rated 5* TripAdvisor.

The work is varied, and includes giving talks, spotting and recording wildlife. It also involves maintaining our website and social media, video editing, general crewing duties, cleaning and helping to maintain our boat, pontoon and properties.

Training will be given.

You need to:- be able to give loud, clear, interesting presentations on wildlife, be enthusiastic about wildlife and conservation, be happy to do all types of jobs and work efficiently unsupervised at times. You need to recognise the cetaceans, raptors and seabirds of this area. You need to be fit, but not necessarily strong and always be cheerful even on the occasional rainy days we get in Scotland.

Previous boating experience is desirable but not necessary.

Although diving is not part of the job there may be opportunities for private diving.

The job starts asap and finishes mid November with the potential of a permanent position. Affordable accommodation is available. We are also looking for a part time skipper.
