Description

Our vision is simple: we want a better world - where corruption is challenged and accountability prevails, all can thrive within the planet’s boundaries, and governments act in the public interest.

At Global Witness we investigate and campaign to stop human rights and environmental abuses caused by corruption and the exploitation of natural resources.

We’re looking for a Senior Campaigner to join our Forests Congo Basin - EU team which is part of our Forests, Land and Climate strand.

About the role:

You’ll play a leading role in advocating policies relating to deforestation and forest degradation in tropical forest rich countries.

You’ll be focused on the Congo Basin and a select number of countries to deliver international policy campaign work, working with the European Union, its Member States and Norway and other relevant organisations.

You’ll spot opportunities for action and decide on the best activities and tactics to create change.  You'll also draft, review and advise on campaign strategies and materials. At every stage you'll collaborate with others in and outside the organisation, ensuring the campaign goes from strength to strength.

This is a 9 month fixed term contract.

About you:

With an ability to think strategically and innovatively you’ll develop campaigns at a national and international level to influence policies and practices.

Naturally, you’ll be able to present persuasive arguments to important advocacy contacts and promote our work through a variety of channels.   Using your  excellent interpersonal skills you’ll bring together the diverse perspectives of a broad range of people (civil society, government, business and other NGO’s) to collectively achieve change and impact .
