Description  

Fixed Term Contract to start April 2017 until October 2017 (initially 6 months with possible extension). The role will be based at our Southern Office in Farnham, Surrey but the applicant will likely assist on SW surveys too so being based in between Farnham and Shaftesbury would be an advantage.

We are currently recruiting for a Seasonal Assistant Ecological Surveyor to assist primarily with bat, reptile and great crested newt survey work during the busy survey season. Some Phase 1 habitat surveys may be required. The candidate will also be required to write high standard ecological reports and carry out administration as necessary. Night work and working away from home will be required frequently.

Essential

 

  • Graduate or Associate member of CIEEM
  • Willingness to work unsociable hours at sites throughout the UK
  • Ability to work on your own with minimum supervision
  • Degree qualified in relevant Ecology / Environmental Discipline
  • Ability to write high quality reports
  • Strong IT skills (Mac OS preferred)
  • Marketing experience
  • Full UK driving licence

 

Desirable

 

  • Bat & GCN survey experience
  • Experience carrying out Phase 1, NVC surveys
  • Good Botanical ID skills
  • MSc qualification in a relevant Ecology / Environmental Discipline

 

Salary in the range of £15-18K pro rata dependent on skills and experience.
