The Ecology Consultancy is seeking a radio-tracking Project Officer to work on a large scale bat survey and mitigation project in Buckinghamshire during the 2016 survey season. We are looking for an environmental graduate with an interest in bat ecology to assist with scheduling and coordination of field surveys, management of data and support the day to day running of the project.
We are looking for a fast learning, well organised individual with good attention to detail and strong communication skills. The successful candidate must be able to work under pressure and prioritise and manage their own workload as well as support an established team of ecologists. The radio-tracking Project Officer will be based in our London office but will be expected to undertake frequent travel throughout Buckinghamshire during the survey sessions to support the survey teams on site.
Tasks a successful candidate can be expected to be involved in include;
- Scheduling survey works
- Assisting with logistics planning and nightly surveyor coordination
- Health & Safety planning
- Managing survey data
- Managing and tracking equipment on a nightly basis
- Data quality assurance
- Supporting ecologists in data analysis and report writing
Essential skills and aptitudes;
- Graduate with a degree in ecology, environmental science or similar
- Have a full clean UK driving licence;
- Have knowledge/interest of basic bat survey techniques
- Good data QA & report writing skills.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office, in particular Excel
- Highly organised with strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Quick to learn, detail orientated and personable with the ability to prioritise and work under pressure
- Willing to work during evenings and at weekends, there may also be some night work;

- Starting salary £19,552.00 pa based on a 40 hour week
- 6 month contract
- 12.5 days holiday plus public holidays
