As statutory advisor on nature conservation to the UK Government and the Devolved Administrations, JNCC is looking for a full time Biodiversity Data Specialist to join the Data Services team based in Peterborough, fixed term to 29 June 2018.
JNCC is looking for a motivated project manager with an aptitude for information management and technology, to help JNCC pursue its core business. The post holder will work with colleagues across JNCC teams and external partners: advising on information management, providing project management support, and coordinating ongoing and new workstreams. Among other duties, the post will:
- help to facilitate the changes needed for JNCC to be ready for the General Data Protection Regulation in May 2018, applying the published criteria and principles to the biodiversity data and processes which JNCC run;
- help to improve the general understanding of good data management among JNCC staff, tailoring advice to a scientific project or advisory function; and
- coordinate the ongoing delivery of JNCC’s data skills framework in order to raise the base level of technical understanding across the organisation.
The post holder will have a strong background in project management and an aptitude for data/information and technology. The position requires someone with good MS Excel skills and a background of using technology to deliver projects. They must be able to develop strong relationships with stakeholders focusing on different business critical areas, and be an excellent communicator of the big picture, as well as the detail.
