Newton Rigg College, part of Askham Bryan College, is proud to be home to the Northern School of Gamekeeping and the only College to have its own grouse moor. We are currently looking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced person to work as a section estate technician to ensure that facilities and equipment are maintained to support teaching as well as assisting in the delivery of curriculum modules for up to 15 hrs per week.
Assisting with the day to day operation and supervision of the Game facilities including, assembly/storage of rearing field and facilities, care and release of game birds, pest and predator control, assistance with game shoot, maintenance of campus owned guns and rifles, electronic traps and clay site, student gundog kennels and student firearms storage records within the armoury.
Candidates for this role should have substantial experience of their sector including extensive working knowledge of gamebird rearing and release and pest and predator control. In addition they will hold a Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject. You will also need to be self motivated and willing to accept responsibility in addition to having a desire to work with young people and help to educate the next generation for the industry.
