About the Role

Are you looking for an opportunity to build your countryside management career?

The Downlands Partnership is one of three countryside management partnerships hosted by Surrey County Council, which together deliver a flexible and responsive county-wide shared countryside management service, working across boundaries and delivering exceptional value for money.

The Downlands Partnership has a conservation grazing flock, primarily of sheep, which graze a variety of chalk grassland sites in north east Surrey. Your role as the Grazing Assistant is to assist the Grazing Project Officer with the implementation of the conservation grazing programme; lead groups of volunteers carrying out practical conservation work; recruit and train volunteer stock checkers; and assist with the delivering an education programme.

Do you have the skills and enthusiasm to drive the delivery of this exciting programme? We are looking for a dynamic individual who can work with the Grazing Project Officer to develop the grazing and education programme to ensure its sustainability into the future.

You will be able to demonstrate experience of

•    Livestock management
•    Safe working and using risk assessments
•    Practical conservation work including leading volunteer groups
•    Attracting, inspiring and motivating volunteers
