An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Surveyor to join the Southern Water's Property team working across the Southern Water region and be based between our Headquarters in Durrington and our offices in Falmer.

The Job

As a Graduate Surveyor you will provide surveying advice and expertise on all land and property matters across the region (Hampshire/Sussex/Kent) in support of the Principal, Senior and Management Surveyors across the region, including support of capital projects, react and maintain activities for Operations and CE, estate management and property disposal activities.

You will be qualified in Real Estate and Land Management or possess a comparable qualification; it is also preferable that you have experience within the rural community.

As Graduate Surveyor you will be accountable for the following:
• To providing surveying advice to ensure the protection of the Company’s interests in land and property
• To undertake land referencing to determine the precise ownership and occupation of land that may be affected by a project.
• To undertake consultation with owners and occupiers to determine all external constraints on a project and ensure that they are taken into consideration in accordance with the Code of Practice as part of the design process.
• To ensure that land entry notices are served in accordance with statutory provisions and programme requirements.
• To assist with negotiating the acquisition of land and other interests and undertake the assessment of compensation claims required for capital projects.
• To meet budgetary and forecasting requirements.
• Providing support for all Operational requirements where land entry is required and assess claims seeking to mitigate the liability as far as practically possible.
• Support property managements activities including lettings, rent review of existing licences and leases in a timely manner and resolve issues arising, e.g. responsibility for site maintenance, access roads and boundary disputes.
• Assist in identifying new letting opportunities to maximise income
• Support the disposals programme, working with surveyors to identify new opportunities to maximise receipts.
