Possession of a driving licence and the use of a car are essential requirements and all reasonable expenses undertaking this assignment will be reimbursed.

This project initiative is also being supported by the Centre for Eco Tourism and Wildlife Management at Edinburgh Napier University who will be delivering a series of industry training workshops with back up sustainability and ecotourism workbooks. The initiative is part of a wider collaborating for success programme being coordinated by Love Loch Lomond working jointly with the Friends of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs and Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Authority.

Specific tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Encouraging participation in workshops, study visits and relevant green schemes such as the Friends of OUR Park voluntary visitor giving and volunteering scheme;
  • Liaising with the Friends eco-tourism support group and other relevant groups as required.
  • Liaising with Dr Kathy Velander at the Centre for Eco Tourism and Wildlife Management at Edinburgh Napier University to finalise and promote eco-tourism workshops, study visits and supporting workbooks
  • Coordinating a pump priming grant assistance scheme for eco-tourism projects in the National Park and Clyde Sea Lochs area.
  • Working closely with our part-time Support Officer on administering the OUR park scheme and related matters.
  • Producing quarterly activity reports and other reports as required for project partners.

Some of the anticipated outputs for this project include:

  • A much increased awareness amongst 200 plus businesses on how to develop more sustainable businesses capitalising on the area’s natural assets.
  • Owners and staff from at least 60 businesses actively engaged in sustainability and eco-tourism workshops, surgeries and field visits with a commitment to take action by adopting sustainability objectives and to improve their eco-tourism products and services.
  • Increasing the participation levels in the Friends of OUR park scheme (target - 40 additional businesses) and other relevant green schemes.
  • The development and availability (online and in print) of two new toolkits/workbooks on sustainability and eco-tourism with practical case studies.
  • The development of new eco-tourism products and services by at least 10 businesses.
  • The delivery of at least 10 new and improved eco-tourism products and services by the third sector with assistance from the Friends eco-tourism grants scheme.

The programme will be carefully evaluated as a research project by the Centre for Eco Tourism and Wildlife management at Edinburgh Napier University and include online business feedback
